Tools used: Mac PowerBook G4, Photoshop Elements, HP scanner, Sony CyberShot camera

Inspiration: San Francisco is such a beautiful town. Even as a resident, it is fun to put yourself in the shoes of a tourist and take photos. This is part of the North Beach area, with City Lights Bookstore on the right, the TransAmerica pyramid straight ahead, and one of my favorite coffee bars, Tosca, on the left.

Isn't Tosca on the left?

I like that there is so much going on in the frame. I think that I would prefer the camera to be a little lower to capture more of the street rather than shooting over it.

I agree, although I did try to balance by getting some bus/cab/car traffic in, but also the grey sky, which is an important element of San Francisco. It looks like that a lot. In fact, today is also very foggy and grey.

yes, what exposures? what lense? It looks like an overcast day with the default landscape setting on an SLR camera. Do you live in SF? My dad used to take me to Clown Alley near there for burgers-great memories...:)

My cameara is a point-and-shoot, so it had no special lens. I believe the only setting I had was to turn the flash off. I was worried that because it was so overcast, the flash would go off.

Yes, it was quite a grey day. Many are here in San Francisco. Yep, I am a city resident, and have been for coming up on 3 years. I love it here, but it's certainly not sunny, warm and beachy like Los Angeles.

(and just looking at this photo makes me want to stop at Tosca for a nice irish coffee on the way home from work...)

Not bad Kellie, but I think it would be a better composed photo if a bit more could be seen at the bottom.I take most of my photos with the flash turned off too, even in low light. Of course, there are exceptions to that though.I'll load one up here when I work out how to do it. :confused:RegardsPaul
