How to set up a DNS serverr in OS X?

How do you set up a DNS server using the client version of OS X. I have read that it is possible but I do not have the know how.
I would also like to do it without a third party product but will if I have to.

It really depends upon what you want to use. I think BIND is included with Mac OS X, but dnsmasq is freely available and may be a little easier to use.
