Has anyone experienced: MacBook Pro will quit unexpectedly when running on battery. There is a small pop sound from the speakers and then everything goes dead. It is as if the battery is shorting out.
Appreciate any insight you have.
thanks,
Mike

Have a look here http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=189

Also, try resetting the PMU.
Good luck.

I have had the same problem. My first macbook pro did this and they said it had to be a hardware problem. Exchanged for another new macbook pro. It began quiting unexpectedly from the beginning as well (when on battery power). It did not do this when connected to the power supply.
I went to apple.com, clicked on support, and found the update for macbook pro battery. I installed it / downloaded it today. I have been on the computer (battery powered) for several hours and have yet to have it happen. Before it would happen within 5-10 minutes. Maybe this will help you as well.

This has recently started happening to me too. Any suggestions, short of sending it back to Apple?

I've had this and other problems since day one. It's been back to the store to the 'experts' a total of seven times so far, and I doubt there'll be an eighth. This is my first (and last) Mac, and it's been a major disappointment I'm sorry to say.
