Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I was wondering what the general opinion was of AIM for Mac OS X versus using AIM through iChat. I was debating about downloading AIM for Mac OS X -- any comments?
Thanks!
Liz

Go ahead and download AIM for OSX ... you can choose to use either one. I think you'll find that iChat to iChat video/audio works perfectly but AIM to iChat or iChat to AIM is painfully hard to get going.

The official AIM client for Mac OS X has been discontinued. AOL has moved to a new AIM client called Triton, but does not appear to have any plans to develop it for the Mac OS. AOL has given official blessing to iChat, so it is likely that, like Microsoft and flip4mac, AOL now considers iChat to be the "official" client on the Mac platform.
I recommend the third-party client Adium myself.

Also, AOL's AIM client isn't a Universal binary, so running it on an Intel Mac means running in Rosetta (which means decreased speed, increased CPU and RAM usage).
