MacBook temperature

For an easy-way to cool off the bottom of my notebook (the top right corner of the bottom case gets particularly warm), do you think it would be okay to prop up my Macbook and just use a small desk fan to blow away the heat? Sounds a bit elementary, I know, but do you think it would work?

Aloha cal_gecko and everyone else,
I must admit that when I looked at the MacBook and MacBook Pros at the Apple Store here in Honolulu, I was a bit taken aback by their temperature. The area just above the top row of keys was so hot as to be almost unbearable. It was hotter on the 17" model than the 15" model, but not by much. I really like both of them, but that kind of heat would definitely make me think twice about purchasing either of them. Of course, the doors of the store are kept open continuously, so that may be a factor, but they seem to be extremely hot, and as such, would definitely not be "lap" tops. One suggestion I have is to take the small white styrofoam separators for DVDs and CDs (the ones at the top of the spindle cases) and use them to elevate the back end of the laptop while it's sitting on a desk. I don't have a suggestion for using it on one's lap.

Hi
The SMC update did do wonders for the temp.
As far as comparison, 'PC' portables get just as hot and sometimes even hotter. I've used many different brands of 'PC' portables and the heat they expel nearly alarms me sometimes. Some even overheat because they have a tiny bit of dust.
It seems reasonable considering what type of 'power' companies are equipping portables with these days, desktop comparable.
