I'm getting ready to move to the Mac pro I bought and remember a review of an application that helped you move those apps that were installed on the old OS. Tha main goal being to avoind reinstalling everything again.
Does anyone remember the name of the app? it was reviewed on MacCentral, but for the life of me, a couple of days of net searching has not found it.
Thanks,
Hagen

What machine, OS,and OS version are you using? If you're using OS X, the Migration Assistant built into Tiger is quite effective.

Thanks Derik, I didn't know about the migration assistant.
I am using OS X 10.4.7 on a G4 MDD.

Hi
some users around here don't use MA. err I won't mention his name. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I have used the migration assistant for a couple hard drives and when migrating to 3 G5's
It's never missed a lick.
btw..
it's located in your Applications>>Utilities>>Migration Assistant.app
start your old Mac in TDM ( Target Disk mode ) by holding down the T key at startup chime.
connect to your new Mac with a 6pin - 6pin Firewire cable.
run the assistant. it will move everything that isn't already installed onto the target.
apps/docs/users/keychains/bookmarks and all the rest.
everything will look just like the old machine when you start up so it "feels" all homey.

Thanks. Played a bit with it, and it looks sweet. this is the kinda thing that my PC friends drool over.
Now I just gotta wait for my Mac Pro with X1900. Gonna put a Raid 0 with dual Raptor drives in as the boot!
