Playlist/MacCentral/Other account integration

<nostalgia>I miss the days when one could reply to ALL of the stories listed in MacCentral under one username.</nostalgia> Now we need MacCentral accounts and PlayList accounts (and maybe others, too?) to reply to the stories in MacCentral. I don't see the need for that if all of the stories are from divisions of one organization, Macworld.
Please provide the ability to use one's MacCentral forums login in any other area of Macworld that requires a login in order to post.
Thanks for listening.

Hi,
The ability to have one username/password combo to post on all Macworld forums is something we are absolutely working on.

I hope we don't lose our MacCentral seniority when this single signon happens! I'm Carpel Tunnel and durn proud of it! This has always been MacCentral to me. All the rest is extra stuff. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Combining logins is going to be one of the huge challenges when we merge all the user files together. We're grappling with it. We hope we can satisfy as many people as we can, but it's gonna be touch. We understand how important it is to everyone, and we'll try our best.

I agree. I was frustrated at the last switch. I had finally achieved something above "member"--"enthusiast," I think--only to be knocked back to "newbie." I admit it put a damper on my posting. I may not post very often, but I'm no newbie.

I hear ya, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone invests anything in these rankings. Can someone explain it to me? I'm a member of myriad discussion forums I don't moderate, and couldn't care less how I'm ranked, so I just really don't get it from either angle.

I don't much care for rankings either (but maybe that's because I have the power to create my own! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) but I do find post counts are helpful, at least in the Mac 911 forum. Grant G was a prime example -- a guy with a lot of posts who knew what he was talking about. When a newbie sees that kind of massive post count, you figure someone's speaking from experience.
