We just got our new Nano, wow, what a piece. It's for my wife and her audiobooks, some chapters we've already downloaded and tried out on her Mac mini. She also has some music she'll add from the mini.
My question: is there any problem with attaching her Nano to my iMac and copying some of my music onto the Nano? 99% of my music I ripped from my 'owned' CD's and there's 11 songs purchased from iTMS. I do connect a Shuffle for my music. We manage the music manually with no auto sync.
Any problems here? Thanks.
Bob.
iMac and mini, both with iTunes 7 and running Panther

If iTune is set to manual synchronization, you should have no difficulty in manually copying and playing the music you originally copied from music CDs.

as long as both computers are authorized in itunes, and the ipod is set to manual, you should be able to drag music from one computer to it, and from the other to it

I am pretty sure that iTunes will only automatically transfer purchased music (meaning, purchased on iTunes), NOT music that you manually ripped in from a CD collection.
