Hi.
Try Cellulo (donationware). It has an iTunes-like interface for organizing and playing video.

Actually iTunes plays any QuickTime compatible file. MOV and MP4
are common examples.

It'd have been helpful had you said that at the outset.
Given that information, all you need do is drop your
AVIs onto iSquint to turn them into MP4s
web page
It'll even optionally format them for iPod download.
Hope this helps.

The thing is that i dont want to copy or format the files at all. Just be able to see them in a Library-program which i can play them from. Like having aliases of the movie files.
(and i tried Cellulo, it was kinda ugly and couldnt for example pause movie by pushing Space.)

The .avi format is a container and doesn't really specify what type of video compression is used. Quicktime can play many .avi files without plug-ins. If your AVI files aren't working, then you probably need DIVX. You can find it here: DIVX for Mac.

If your files are WMV you can download the WMA player from Flip4Mac here: Flip4Mac WMV Quicktime
That should cover pretty much anything except WMP 10 encrypted stuff which simply can't be played on a Mac as far as I know.
