Macbook Pro\Canon XL H1\Final Cut 5.1\Capture Prob

I'm having problems capturing HDV footage on to my Macbook Pro.
I shot 1080i60i on to a Sony HDVMini DV tape with a Canon XL H1.
I'm using FCP 5.12 with the AV settings of,
Sequence Preset: 1080i60
Capture Preset: HDV
Device Control Preset: HDV Firewire

But when I try to capture it says,
Unable to Initialize Capture Device.
Device is not connected or the capture preset is not setup correctly. You may still log offline clips. This might also happen if you play DV footage in an HDV device.

I've been messing around with the different settings but have had no luck.
Can anyone please help me out, leftover Halloween porch candy to anyone who does!
