To me, a "casual gamer" is someone who enjoys gaming. A casual gamer follows the titles that are being released, plays all the top-rated games in their genre and generally enjoys gaming on a regular basis. The distinction between casual and hard-core is the amount of time they spend playing.

If you want to personally define the term that way, no one will hold it against you /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif What Rob and I were pointing out is simply that the game industry itself defines it differently.

At the very least consider disengaging your Caps Lock key, sparky.

Look people, the bottom line to all this is, if you're casual gaming on a computer platform, as opposed to a console platform, you aren't going to get top performance on your machine because your mid-range machine isn't going to be able to run the games at the highest levels anyway. Casual gaming on the pc DOES mean easier games to run, because of the hardware required. If you want to run Doom 3 like a pro, you ARE looking at an expensive machine, whatever your OS.
I've always been a hardcore console gamer, but with BootCamp, I've become a bit of a casual pc gamer. What does that mean? Copies of KoTR, Sim City, StarCraft, etc for a little play on the go. I'm not going to try and push Oblivion on my machine not built for the hardcore gamer, and I sholdn't expect to be able to.
