Nintendo uses a proprietary connector on the console end of the cables. You can't use any of the cables that you've linked to.

They're supposed to be available at the brick and mortar locations on launch day.
Well, the image embedding capability isn't working, so follow the image link if you want to see an example of the cables.

While I realize this is the launch week of only the PS3 and the Wii and they should rightly be getting the lion's share of attention, I think it's proper to also consider the Xbox360 when you are weighing options of "what to buy (or recommend)", since it's 3-way race. Not a 2-way one.
Or if it is a 2-way race, it's between Xbox360 and PS3.. Not PS3 and Wii..
Personally, I don't have a 360, and was planning on getting a PS3 eventually (probably after the holidays), but it's disheartening to read that in games where they are out on both 360 and PS3 (e.g. Call of Duty 3) the PS3 seems to have some frame-rate issues. So far, the Xbox360 seems to be faring better for games. I'm optimistic this gap will be minimized or eliminated in future multiplatform releases, but it's definitely a valid piece of info for people wondering which to get.

Personally, there's no way I'm spending $600 bucks for my 9 year old to play video games. Even if it has a BluR drive, it's way too early in the format war; it hasn't even begun to prove itself in the marketplace against HD-DVD. I think Nintendo was smart in shooting for an incremental advancement that has a price point that most people will accept. I just don't see your average parent dropping this kind of $$$ on a video game console.

Kids aren't the early adopters of these systems, nor are their parents. Most of the early adopters are people like me -- adults working full-time who also love to play video games. Ipsos-Insight's latest demographic study on gamers shows that the average age of a gamer is 33. That's probably someone who can justify -- at least to themselves -- spending $600 on a new console.

I've defintely heard that the component cables are a must for the Wii, especially if you're using an HDTV. I'm having trouble finding them online for purchase though. Where did you get yours or where do you suggest I should get mine?

Don't buy over-priced, sub-par cables.
Best value (and quality) I've found is Blue Jeans Cable. They don't look fancy, but the cables are the best I've come across. They also don't use pseudo-scientific, made-up terminology, unlike the vast majority of the snake-oil... I mean cable manufacturers. Their S-Video cable gave me a much sharper picture than the Monster Cable I used to use, and I'm just as happy with their component video cables.
