Often one sees streaming video in IE, Safari or Firefiox.
I would like to be able to save streaming video as a file that I can watch later at my leisure (without having to go to the original site each time).
I believe that if one waits until the entire video has played then the entire video will be in file in a temporary area somewhere on ones computer.
Does anyone know where that area is and how to save those files (issue here might be their format, etc).

If the file format is QuickTime you can even view those cached files "offline".
Look at the QuickTime Sys Prefs/Browser to set the size of the cache. Use the "Most Recently Played" menu to view them or store them as "Favorites".
They are only a few clicks away.

Hi dougster,
The URL would not help as it's on a membership site that is password protected.
However the file has the suffix flv. But I am not able to access it as I cannot find where it is. I found it by going to the activity monitor in Safari (in the Window drop-down menu). But I have not found a way to copy or download that file.

If you go to the activity window in Safari it will show the various parts of the website and the largest file is usually the video file. Also usually in .flv format though sometimes in others. Simply double click the .flv line and it will begin downloading through Safari. You can then convert the movie with Isquint or something or just view it using VLC.
Have fun
