Hi guys,
I recently purchased an external hard drive. I've currently trying to format it. I've a bit confused though. I want 2 HFS partions and a windows one. I have them set up to the sizes, and formats I want them to be. However, in disk utilities under partitioning there is a button that says "options..." When I click on it it askes me what I want for my partion scheme. I want to be able to boot my powerbook off of one of the HFS partions so I would assume I should pick Apple Partion Map. I also want to be able to connect to PCs though, which leads me to believe I should pick Master Boot Record which says "To use the disk to start up DOS and Windows computers, or to use with devices that require a DOS-compatible or Windows-compatible partition." If I pick Apple Partition Map does that mean I'll be unable to use my windows partition to connect to windows? If I pick Master Boot Record will I be unable to connect to my Mac?
Thanks,
0

bottom line.. sharing format schemes between Mac OS and Windows for booting on the same physical drive isn't really recommended.
trust me, you will have problems.

I don't think you'll have any luck as you need to use APM to boot a PowerPC Mac and I don't think Windows can read APM disks without something like MacDrive, at which point you might as well just use HFS+ partitions.
