Their product page mentions integration with FCP. So I'd doubt anything soon would come out for Pages at least not for iLife 2007 come this January. Aperture may see some benefits from this buy-out before iLife 2008 too.

My still camera also shoots videos, and we take quite a few. But there's no way to work with them nicely. You can see a poster frame in iPhoto, but opening it takes you to QT player. You can't store movies in iMovie for sorting, like you can in iPhoto, and it recopies them into the iMovie file anyway. So, to this date, there is no iPhoto/Aperture that makes capturing, sorting, storing, and editing these movies. Very frustrating.

I would think that perhaps Apple wants to provide a digital asset tool for video editors to better manage their footage. It's a major hassle to have all this footage and try to identify what shots cover what kind of subjects or style treatments. A tool similar to Aperture, but designed for video would be way cool. There are some tools for doing this, including iDive which seems to be the best so far, but all of them fall well short of what Apple would put together. This would be a great addition to Final Cut and/or iMovie.

What you're talking about is iView Media Pro. It integrated pointers to photos, pointers to videos, pointers to audio -- all in a single media album. None of the original files were moved or tampered with. Deleting an iView album did not delete any of your media files. Reorganizing media icons was as simple as drag-and-drop. A slideshow could include video clips interspersed with photos or music in whatever order you preferred, and the program took care of all the details of displaying it nicely. While not without its quirks, iView was far more intuitive than iPhoto or iMovie. My still camera also shoots videos, and we take quite a few. But there's no way to work with them nicely. Unforunately iView went to the boneyard in Redmond, WA. Kiss another great program goodbye.

Final Cut Pro was never more than $1299
Cinema Tools was $995 I believe
India Titler was $695
Shake was 10k and Apple reduced the Mac version down to $5k
The most expensive app that Apple created and reduced to affordable levels would have to be Web Objects which used to sell for like 50 grand.
Apple's certainly not going to sell this for 20k. Here's my guess.
Final Cut Studio Extreme is announced at NAB 2007. It is comprised of
Final Cut Pro 6
Motion Pro
Logic 8
Artbox tech
Final Touch tech
DVD Studio Pro 5 with HD DVD and Blu-ray support
Compressor Pro
XSAN
Shake
$10-15k depending on options.
