Why don't you store and play them with iTunes?
"If you've got video files that end with a .mov, .m4v, or .mp4 file extension, you can watch them in iTunes."

This product isn't about storing and playing back individual movie files. It's about cataloging, playback management of HUGE amounts of data that needs to be accessed by many different people working on different projects.
Think of Portfolio server but on steroids and aimed at video production.
