I watched a DVD a few days ago. I can see the DVD icon on the desktop but when i double click the icon to watch the DVD, it opens the file system and i can see the files. I just want to play the movie again. I know i can eject and reinsert but there HAS to be an easier way.... thanks.

Just find the application iDVD and click on that. Nice and easy.

Don't you mean DVD Player? IDVD is for burning movies.

Under Mac OS 10.x, DVD Player is in /Applications
Under Mac OS 9.x, Apple DVD Player is in /Applications/Apple Extras and should also be listed under the Apple menu -- If I recall correctly.

If you want to ensure the application that opens "whatever,"
don't double-click on "whatever." Launch the app you want
and open the file.
For DVD Player (4.6.5) go to the File menu and select "Open
DVD Media." This way you can also play movies that have been
copied to your hard drive.

Did you change any prefs around? Not sure which OS you have, but go to Preferences (in the Dock) CD/DVD-->Where it says 'When you insert a video DVD'->select on the drop-down menu->Open DVD Player.
