I have a PowerBook G4. I am trying to unarchize a zip file and when I click on the file, it brings up the archive utility. The progress bar increases and then a little bit before it is done, it seems to freeze. Under the bar it says VolumeCheck.strings. I have tried StuffIt expander and I get the same results. How can I get it to unarchive?

what kind of archive is it?
while ZIP is becoming more popular on Macs, there are plenty that started life in Windows and don't do well on macs.

Sounds like the zip file itself is damaged. If it is a download, can you try to re-download it?
