I've been a user of Parallels since day one of the first beta.
I have never seen a better piece of software for several reasons... first its great and does what it says, but more over... Parallels is CONSTANTLY improving... CONSTANTLY... not two weeks goes by they haven't added something better and better... this is after I bought it.. it's not like Virtual PC where they would update once every few years and charge you for it...
And parallels support is amazing...
Parallels as a company is great, and their software is superb... there are very few companies today that truly strive to be the best... but Parallels is one of them...
Keep it up parallels!

I have to agree... for someone to be this supportive and innovative on their FIRST attempt at programming for the mac is amazing. Either they hired a ton of experienced deep-level macintosh coders, or they had a head-start with apple and were allowed access before the INTEL announcement. Either way, fantastic product, fantastic support, and even more significantly.... fantastic price.

I just did the upgrade to the new beta of Parallels and when I booted Windows, I was told my hardware configuration had changed too much and would have to re-activate Windows. I had to make a call to a Microsoft agent (in India) and explain my situation, upon which I was given a new code to re-activate Windows. Gotta luv Microsoft, the Draconian. Otherwise the beta is awesome! Man those guys at Parallels are the best. Each update this product makes it better and better!

Parallels is great, I agree. Have people missed the fact that this company is based in the same town as Microsoft? It wouldn't at all surprise me, if MacBU and or VirtualPC programmers aren't at the heart of why the product is as good as it is as early as it is. A small group of programmers with one task - to improve a technology (VM) that they have been working on for years, and with more native hardware support than they have ever had is a formula that makes sense to me.

Since kernel extensions interact with the operating system at a low level, they can affect the stability of the system. For this reason, whenever kernel extensions are installed, they should be named so that it is easy to see who uses these extensions. But when I installed Parallels Desktop for Mac, I found the following items added to the /System/Library/Extensions folder:
ConnectUSB.kext
helper.kext
hypervisor.kext
vmmain.kext
How are people supposed to know that these files are used by Parallels? Parallels is not the only developer that can use the Extensions folder, yet they are acting as if they own the whole folder and putting a monopoly on common words like "helper". In my opinion, this is irresponsible behavior. They need to name their files in a way that identifies them as belonging to Parallels. For example, all kernel extensions installed by Parallels should begin with "Parallels" in the file name.

Does anyone know if the most recent version will allow more than 2 USB devices to work at the same time? The last time I installed a trial version of Parallels and installed XP Pro on my 20" Intel Imac, the keyboard and mouse took up the two (then) available USB devices, leaving me unable to use a USB attached printer. Any guidance would be appreciated to help me determine if I can run this software on an Imac with USB attached devices in addition to the keyboard and mouse.
