resolution to iChat connection problem ?

I own both a 12" PowerBook and a 1st Generation Mac Mini. My Uncle owns the 1st Generation MacBook Pro.
We regularly perform iChat sessions. However, on the last 4 sessions, my Uncle has not been able to hear me. His iChat video portion works fine. The both of us did a "Restart" of our computers and after this my Uncle was able to hear me.
Any idea why my Uncle has not been able to hear me on these first attempts ?
