Hello! I need some mac help. I have a new 24" imac and am having trouble with mail (mac mail programme) for some reason the other day it just stopped accessing emails and now keeps saying 'The server "mail.-*.co.uk" cannot be contacted on port 25." i have attempted to search this on the net and follow various instructions like changing to port 587, 110 and so on... i've also tried the secure password thing (please bare with me, i know very little about the technical side of the internet!) I have cable through NTL if it makes any difference... I also access my emails via an itnernet site when away from home. any help is appreciated!

Don't know if you've figured out your problem yet, but, tonight, when I woke my iMac from sleep to do a little email work and surfing, I got a similar message. Turns out my DSL connection was not working right and I had to re-set my modem. I figured this out because my browser wouldn't connect either.
Any chance your cable connection is 'down'? This assumes you could connect at one time.
Bob.

Have you tried running Mail's Connection Doctor to see what that shows?

found it thank you!
POP Account: it says could not connect to this POP server. Check network connection and that you entered the correc information in the account preferences. Also verify that the sever supports SSL...
Mail.-.co.uk it says it can connect to the server (no log in required)
Have tried with and without SSL, any ideas?
