BookEnds has faeatures similar to those described in this article. I went away from EndNote 2 years ago because I object their upgrade policy. Upgrades are frequent and expensive. I have spent a lot of money over 10 years before I shifted to BookEnds which also has an efficient and very responsive email support.

The version of EndNote I'm currently using allows me to search ISI, PubMed, and many other online databases. It formats bibliographies into (seemingly) countless different styles, including those of nearly every major publication. I can sort the references in numerous ways, and form numerous libraries. So, given that these abilities are touted in the article as capabilities of the new EndNote Web, just what is to be gained? The fact that the libraries can be shared online? With proper permissions, that can be done now, without giving the data to others to store/maintain. And all without paying exorbitant fees for an update. Sorry, but this article did absolutely nothing to show me anything new about the program. Whether that's the fault of the software producers or the writer, I don't know . . . let me check my references . . . .
