Mac vs Windows Paths

I work in an office full of Windows machines. The design team uses all Power Mac G5's PPC. People always send us paths to files (Windows file paths) and you can not just click on the path and go to the file or open it on a mac.
I always have read the location go to the network click around and get the file.
I have heard a rumor that you can use Terminal to connect to files on a server using a Windows a path. Is this true does anyone know how? If so please let me in on this.
