I tried this, and set it up. To be clear about it, it forwards all missed calls to CallWave - not to your cellular company's voice mail.
It would now allow me to set the outgoing message - it said "this person is using CallWave" and then "beep".
No thank you.

I presume from the context of your message you meant "not," not "now." And I was able to customize mine just fine with my name and a recorded greeting, following the instructions on the Web site.
Awesome service, IMO.

This is a very cool service if you ask me, considering it somewhat emulates what Apple will be doing in the upcoming iPhone, which I found to be the most interesting part of the device.
I set mine up and it work(ed) great. I say worked, because at first it was working as expected. Messages showed up and I was able to play the first one or two from my computer. Awesome! Unfortunately, since then, I can't seem to actually play any messages /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif They show up in the widget, but attempting to play them produces nothing. The progress bar doesn't move, and in some cases, a small red line of text displays above the bar saying "no message available" or some such.
And I left myself a few test voicemails from another phone so I could test what was going on. Still no joy. They won't play anymore. And I know the messages are there because I can retrieve them through my cellphone and play them that way. Just not thru the widget.
And this was all done (successful and unsuccessful) from the same Mac on the same net connection.
I guess I have to contact them to find out what's up, or just go back to my regular service. sigh

I only have one gripe with the service so far. Let me step through the process.
1. Someone dials my number.
2. I don't answer and it rolls to CallWave's voicemail.
3. Caller hears "This person is using CallWave". No problem.
4. Caller must RE-ENTER my phone number AGAIN. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
5. Caller then hears my personal greeting.
6. Caller leaves message.
7. I get an SMS message on my phone saying I have a voicemail.
Part 4 is a real inconvenience to the caller especially if they frequently use the address book feature in their phone to make calls like I do. Most of the time I do not even know what the phone number is that I am dialing so having to reenter it is not a good thing.
Just my $0.02.

This isn't how it works for me. I set it up for my phone (I'm on T-Mobile) and, from the caller's point of view, it works just like my standard voicemail: they hear my greeting and leave message.
On my end, I get a text message on my phone, as well as an email, letting me know I have a new message; I can listen to the message either via the widget or by calling my own number on my phone.

Well, I sent this to CallWave's customer support. They said that it should not work this way either. For now, I have reactivated my voicemail with them and it works exactly like I stated above. I sent it back to CallWave's customer support again to see if they can help me.
It is good to know that it does work correctly for some people.
BTW, my mobile provider is Alltel and I have a Motorola Razr V3m phone if anyone else can help.
