I recently got a new mp3 player and would like to put my itunes songs on it, but unfortunatly i cannot because they are not compatible....Does anyone know of a free converter that i can get online to use to convert the itunes files to mp3s?

Well, unless you're talking about songs bought from the iTune store, you already have this app. It's iTune itself. Begin by going in the iTune prefs and select the advanced tab. Then, in the import setting, select mp3 for the type of encoding. Close the prefs, select the tunes you want to convert and choose the convert to mp3 option from the advanced menu.
For songs bought from the iTune store, there is no legal app to convert. The best way would be to burn them to an audio CD, then reimport it (with the import setting I described above).
