Has anyone else downloaded the latest update for Quicken 2006 and discovered this little nugget buried in the software license agreement:
"If and when you connect to the Internet to update your data, Intuit may also include Intuit Software updates (i.e., service information, help content, etc.) in the update transmission."
I use Little Snitch software and in the past have been able to block the "feelers" Quicken surreptitiously sent to my computer without my knowledge (or so they thought). Now, I can't use Little Snitch to block out these Quicken "updates". I have to allow them in to download data from my bank, otherwise, I get an error message that says that I can't connect to my bank!!
What information is Quicken uploading to my computer!!?? And why are they saying they have the right to do this every time "I connect to the internet?" Are they collecting data? I think this is an invasion of my privacy.
Needless to say, I'll be looking for new software to do my checking account!!

I moved to Moneydance about three years ago and have not looked back. I was able to import my Quicken file and was up and running in no time.
Take a look at Moneydance at this site.

You can download a free trial version to play with before you buy.
Good Luck!

You might be being paranoid. It's just there as a disclosure that data is being exchanged. It looks much like the license of most Internet-connected software in use today.
Should you stop using all the websites with similar policies? Are you equally motivated to leave this site by the Macworld site privacy policy? Which says, in part,
"(cookies)...may gather information about what sites you have visited and use that information to determine which ads appear when you visit our Web sites."
It's hard to use the Web without all kinds of data going back and forth, in plaintext no less. You may have to unplug your computer from the network and shut off Airport.
