My guesses so far:
1. FCS 6.0
2. Logic and/or Shake update
3. "8-core" Mac Pros (if not before)
4. New app (they like to surprise us every once in a while)
Any others?

Definitely new version of FCP, and I'd be amazed and disappointed if they don't bring out a new 8-core desktop. Drooooool.......
I wonder if Adobe will be bringing out CS3 at that time too. I mean, CS3 isn't directly related to video production, but it's still a big event so who knows?

Apparently they're re-writing Shake from the ground up. I think it will be a while yet.

This IS what's going to happen.
End of March:
1. New 10.5
2. Update to Mac Pro's (need 10.5 ready in order to intro Pro's)
3. New Display's including a 36" with iSight built in.
April 15th:
1. New FC Express (on sale now until 3/27/07)
2. New FC Pro (Big bro goes where little bro goes)
3. Intro to new Mac Book Pro's with new screens.
4. Mention of Mac Book Mini
The only thing I don't know is how to convince my wife that I NEED a new Mac. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So, how DO you know that this IS going to happen? Do you HAVE inside information? Do you LIKE to capitalize words to make us BELIEVE that what you say is real? /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

A new Final Cut Studio is virtually guaranteed.
Final Cut Pro 6
Motion 3
DVD Studio Pro 5 with enhanced HD DVD and Blu-ray support.
Compressor Pro (?)
Soundtrack Pro 2
Shake (I think they're going to bundle Shake)
Next we'll see the direction Apple is taking with recent aquisitions of Silicon Color's "Final Touch" and Proximity.
I don't believe we'll see Logic Pro 8 announced at this show. I believe that will happen this month as Musikmesse in Germany. I hope that Logic Pro 8 becomes a peer application in a Final Cut Studio workflow. This app is totally amazing and very deep but the UI isn't going to appeal to those who are used to video apps.
I expect that the integration between the core apps in FCS is going to be great. I'm hoping for full rountrip without the need for import/export. I'm hoping for robust media management between all the apps and Xgrid support as well. Compressor needs to offer the improved AVC and add VC-1 encoding for HD DVD/Blu-ray. Dolby options for encoding DD+ and TrueHD should be optional at least.
Core Animation should figure prominently in the interfaces of these apps as well.

Since these forums have no sound, I was trying to show some sarcasm through CAPS. No harm done. Everyone guesses. I do believe the FC stuff though, only because it make sense with the dates. Actually Steve entered one of my dreams and told me this was very accurate info. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
BTW I'm in MN also and am enjoying the snow!!!

Yes, $99 with a new Mac... but that's not particularly new. I took advantage of the same deal 2 1/2 years ago when I bought my dual G5, and I've seen it listed since. Do you have any particular reason to believe that it, in this case, relates to a new version?

Dear Apple, Inc:
I realize you probably have some inventory of old, washed up dual dual-cores. I'm sure you'd like to keep the release date of the dual quad-core a secret. That way you can unload premium-priced end-of-life machinery on unsuspecting impulse buyers.
However, be aware that most pro's who will buy your high end stuff are well-equipped, and well-schooled in your ways. We are prepared to hold out as long as we need to for your 8-core machines.
Please don't think we're going to buy old stock when we even THINK there's a hint of imminent release of an 8-core Mac Pro.
Give it up, Apple!! Let us have it NOW!!!!!
Sincerely
A Rabid, Insane, Long-time Apple Customer /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I think it's pretty obvious that it's going to be the next version of Final Cut Studio. Maybe they'll throw in Final Cut Extreme too. But who knows with Apple, it could be new hardware too, but something that will fit in with the NAB trade-show.
