Is it true that you can't purchase the $40.00 iPod remote and headphone kit at a reseller like CompUSA??

Living in the Northwest, there's no apple store for miles so having to order online is kind of a bummer.

I ordered from the Apple store online minutes after the keynote and I still haven't got mine. I got a message saying that they wold delayed further. So I guess there is a general shortage of these little buggers.

I was told they are way back ordered, so I cancelled my online order which i also placed the day of the keynote.

I bought a 20 Gig iPod instead.

I know it says the iPod remote works with any current iPod model, but does that apply to the original 5 Gig version?

I hope so... cause that is what mine is going to be connected to. Honestly though, it does work with any of them, it's Firmware dependant not hardware dependant and the firmware has had a remote option since day one. Even the carrying case you can buy online says "for original 5gb or 10gb ipod". Good job apple making your accessories available for us early adopters.

I also got the delay email... i ordered mine right after the keynote, and the email said the order should be filled within the next 22 days. Wow.
