Hey guys... question about iPod utilities. I split my time pretty much evenly between Hong Kong and London. Problem is, I only have one FireWire Mac, a G4 tower, and it's in London, where I study. I'm now in Hong Kong, where I (and the rest of my family) live, and going for three months with the same songs in my iPod is going to be a bit annoying.

My cousin here has an iMac though, so can I transfer songs from any of the CDs I have here to my iPod via her iMac? Most of the iPod utilities out there transfer music from the iPod to another computer. I don't want to clone my iPod's library on her computer (and I don't think she'd like that either :-P), but is the only way for me to add new songs to clone my library on her iMac, rip new songs, and then sync it back again?

The only way I can see it being done is via TinkerTool. I used TinkerTool to enable hidden folders and "unlock" the music folders on the iPod... but... I have no idea what to do from there, since I assume a simple drag-and-drop does not suffice (and I'm also scared of permanently screwing up my iPod from doing something like that).

So, any ideas?

This can be done quite easily.
Rip the songs and ad them to her library. Then connect your ipod. A dialogue will ask you if you wany yo sinc with her computer. Click on no. Then slect the ipod in itunes and click on the ipod setup icon in the lower right corner of itunes. select what is called something like "manually manage songs and playlists", if
I remember correctly. This will allow you to mess around in your iPods library without sincing to her mac. You can make new playlists, aswell as change old ones and of course drag and drop new songs into, awswell as delete certain ones that are in already.

Unbelievable -- you're dead right. I had no idea it'd be so easy. I figured after all the talk of "linking" iPods to computers, I figured it would be hard to do :-) Thanks seb!
