haha. wow, this is great. vonage being the blood sucking, piece of crap company they are. I'm so glad Karma came back to get them.
war verizon!!
short end of why I hate them. ordered service, took 2 months to get # transfered, never talked to anyone who thought english was there primary language, and lastly went to cancel because it did not work and was forced to pay 40 bucks.
so I'm glad to give my 40 dollars to verizon... /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

To "thestaton," your post is utterly juvenile in its sensibility. You are free to prefer the service and product of one company over another of course, but what does that have to do with the merits of a patent infringement case?
I hate all this mindless cheerleading for corporations.

This is why I even responded to his post. Having a bad experience with a company dose not automatically make it a bad company, or evil if you may. I can attest quite to the contrary with my dealings with Vonage, for me it's proven a very viable solution. I will not presume that everybody's experience is like mine, but certainly I don't criticize it blindly or like you put it cheer it ether.
I do have my reservations about BIG telecom, just like BIG oil, they only seem to have self serving motives, and I consider Verizon a part of BIG telecom. I would like to add that they probably had much better representation on this case do to having a larger legal budget. Not always, but certainly almost all the time this can also affect the out come of a law suit.

Same here. I just switched a week ago. My only regret was that I jumped from Comcast Voice to Vonage too quickly. Lingo has even cheaper rates at $16 a month if you pay a year in advance. Then there's Packet8 and a bunch more that go even cheaper.
My only hope is that Verizon won't succeed in getting a permanent injunction.

I, too, have had no problems with Vonage. Not sure how their customer support is since we haven't needed any yet.

I've been using Vonage for almost 4 years now. I've never had any significant problem. One or two network outages in 4 years is not bad at all. I don't like the other offerings because they are either software based or tie you to a specific provider of another service (cable, phone). I like that I can take my little Vonage box with me, so that I never have to change my phone number. I sometimes have to spend months away from home and Vonage allows me to keep in touch with people easily. I hope Vonage wins on appeal and that there is no injunction.

I don't have very strong opinions with respect to these two companies, but since a few people are noting different VoIP solutions... I'm an advocate of doing your homework. My brother-in-law recommended SunRocket for VoIP services, and I was pretty hesitant to take the plunge at first, until I read some of the reports on BroadbandReports.com. User feedback seemed to indicate that they do a decent job overall, so I signed up. I haven't had a single complaint about their service to date.
Now, having said all of that... does anyone have any speculations on whether or not Verizon is likely to go after other VoIP providers, after they get done with Vonage? That could make things very complicated indeed...
