My nice old round heavy plexiglass speakers-connector doesnt fit into my G4 PowerBook.
Can anyone please help. I would like to use these speakers. Any adaptor-plug I can use?
Thanks, Diana

Are you talking about the Apple Pro Speakers (made by Harmon-Kardon) that Apple shipped with some of their desktop computers awhile back?

If so your best bet is the Griffin iFire. It's now discontinued but there are still quite a few places selling it.
I've personally used the iFire with an MDD PowerMac G4 tower and an iBook G4 1.2GHz models. There are some spattering of reports about it not working with some of the new Intel Macs, but I have not personally tested this. I don't see any reason why the iFire wouldn't work with your PowerBook G4.

Thanks Demian. The griffin iFire which I googled (ebay, others) costs around $300 (sic!!!). Can buy 10 speakers for that price.... Too bad. They are such a beautiful design!

Um, not according to Froogle.

I'm not sure wh the eBay prices are so high. Seek it out elsewhere. You might also check places like LA Computers, DealMac, MacSales.com, or Smalldog.

Maybe it's because the people on eBay actually have iFires to sell, while the places on Froogle don't.
The product hasn't been in retail outlets, including the ones Damien mentions, for a couple of years.
