With the release of Apple TV, the debate about whether 802.11g is sufficient to stream videos has been reenergized. SInce I don't plan on purchasing an Apple TV or new Airport Extreme base station any time soon, I am using my MacBook and Airport Express to stream content to my TV. In my experiences thusfar, streaming from another computer by simply opening up the SMB of it has resulted in stuttering during playback, as if the buffer was too low. If I change the quicktime streaming buffer in system preferences, does this adjust the buffer for streaming over a network in this way? Also, If I were to use Front Row instead, does the content on the other computer need to be in an iTunes library, or can I set another folder? (I'm talking of course about an XP machine, as adding movies to Front Row is just an alias). Thanks for the input.
