I've got my canon printer connected to my mac g5 desktop and wanted to be able to print from my Pc laptop using this printer.
I've installed bonjour on my pc and have done all the "sharing" of the printer on the mac. When I launch the bonjour printer wizzard (on the pc) I can see my canon printer on the G5 and have also chosen the appropriate printer driver on the pC (the canon drivers were loaded onto the PC some time ago as I was connecting the printer directly to the Laptop). I am connecting the pc to my network via an airport extreme wirelessly and the printer is connected to the G5, not the usb port on the airport extreme.
when in word I choose print and then point to my canon printer on the G5 as the printer to use and go ahead and press "print" but nothing happens. I get a "printer jobs" dialog opening and it just says that the job is waiting.
any ideas or help would be greately appreciated.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Thanks for the tip but no joy. I have tried uninstall and reinstall several times as well.
When I try print a document I see the document being prepared to print but then I get nothing. Am I supposed to see the printer"jobs" icon on the taskbar cause I dont see it.

Start > Printers and Faxes > double click the target printer icon. This will open the Windows queue for the specific printer. You will probably find all the failed print jobs still in there, waiting to all print if you ever fix the problem.
faq000185_002 on the Brother site explains a hack of the Windows firewall to allow Brother multi-function machines to push scans from their control panels to a PC. Maybe you need a similar hack customizecd for your problem.
(Have you seen the Im a Mac, Im a PC ad where the FBI parody Vista security guy intercepts all communication?)

HI Martyin, yeah I've alrerady had a look and there are no jobs in the que. If I select the printer as if it were connected to the usb port on the laptop (ie not the networked "same " printer) i get a job que. somethings really wierd here!!!! Frustrating.

What happens if you connect your PC to the router by Ethernet cable?
I ask this because while playing around with a borrowed MacBook, without loading any additional software or drivers onto the MB, a Brother Bonjour multi-function that is networked by Ethernet to my generic router will be discovered as a new printer only if the MacBook is also hardwired to the router the Brother disappears when the MacBook is on the wireless network. If I first add the Brother as a new printer while the MB is networked through Ethernet, then switch to wireless and try to print, communication cant be established and the print job fails.
In contrast, my Lexmark AppleTalk laser works fine regardless if the MB is wireless or Ethernet connected.
Presumably if I put the proper driver onto the MB, the Bonjour printer would then work wirelessly. My point is that Bonjour may be more picky about drivers when running wirelessly.
