tomtom,
Never gave April 1 a thought. (didn't even realize)
I've just spent a month in Australia.
I was forced to do nothing with family and friends and drink a lot of beer. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Peter
but it is April 2 in England

Since early days April 1 has been a strange day on the Internet.
Yes, it is April 2 here, soon April 3 from where you have just come from and still April 1 for a few more hours in San Diego - So you lucky jet lagged boozed out guy, sharpen up!
Better still, stay up and join the UK party with Mr Jobs at 05:00 am your time and your jet lag and hangover will be cured for all time.
Monday is also a good day to get back to work.

No joke, huh?
Something tells me this is going to be more than just EMI going DRM-free. Not exactly a bold prediction, I know, but it'd seem more like joint press-release material if that's all there was to it (important as it is). I'm thinking that a big iTunes exclusive will go along with the DRM-free catalog. The WSJ apparently didn't mention the Beatles, but what else could be it be? No FairPlay is more expected than exciting for many, and I have a hard time seeing a lack of something as being an offering.
Guess we'll know in 6 hours or so. You'll be up to give us the news as it happens, right Rob?

The LA Times reports that according to insiders EMI is releasing DRM-free albums.

"Customers of Apple Inc.'s iTunes store will soon be able to play downloaded songs by the Rolling Stones, Norah Jones and other top-selling artists free of the copying restrictions once imposed by their label."
