Hi. I'm using iWeb and I find that I can't insert a general hyperlink into my iWeb-created Web pages. It allows four kinds of links from Link Inspector: "One of My Pages", "An External Page", "A File", or an "Email message". When I try to use, say, "file:///localdir/localfile" for an External page it wipes it out and puts in "http://google.com" or some kind of default.
I then tried to edit the iWeb-created page myself with Dreamweaver and typed in the HTML tags myself. This worked until I re-opened the Web with iWeb & without even touching that page again, it waved its magic wand over each page when publishing it to my test site directory & again wiped out any hyperlink it didn't like -- replacing it with its default. I messed around with moving files within and near the iWeb site directory -- same effect. The other types of links work as advertised.
I realize that iWeb is just a front end to do "EZ" Web page construction, but it seems very fussy about working with other Web pages. I happen to be building my own various Web pages with many directories and files on my hard drive. I use FrontPage (on Windows) and Dreamweaver (on both Windows and Mac), and got to liking many of the themes and ready-made templates on iWeb. I'm not unwilling to live with its limitations, but thought I might be missing some knowledge about how to do what I want. Does anyone know if Leopard will offer any enhancements here?
Thanks.
