I am looking for something that will provide the following:
Color capability
Laser preferred over ink-jet
Network connectivity
We've considered a combo unit (printer/scanner/fax), but I haven't found with a laser printer that prints in color.
I'm not opposed to buying two units to satisfy my needs.
I need the network connectivity because we have three Macs here at home, and a number of other Windows/Linux machines/servers.
The unit will immediately be put to use printing our wedding invitations, so I'll need to get something pretty quick....
Thanks in advance.

What's your budget? For a solid super-quality color printer, I point
people to the Xerox 85xx series:
web page
It's plug-n-play with our home ethrnetlet, and it's the one we used
in our mixed PC/Mac net at the office. It's not technically a laser
printer, but it acts more like one than like an inkjet. You only use
as many color sticks (I call 'em crayons) as a page calls for, and
the black crayons are free for life, so you can use it for regular
correspondence.
My 2p.

I would like to stay somewhere around $500.00.
I'm familiar with the "crayons." Years ago, I used to manage several Tektronics solid ink printers. In fact, they were the Phaser series, looks like Xerox bought them or the name.
This evening I was looking at the HP Color Laserjet 3600n and the 2605dn printers.
