itunes 7.1.1 freeze issue

I have been searching to see if anyone else has my problem and not sure I see the exact issue that I am having in other posts or other technical postings. I have never had an issue with other versions of itunes until I installed 7.1.1. Every time I start the program, within 3 to 5 seconds, it freezes with the clock wheel turning. I usually have time to start an itunes radio station which continues to play after the freeze, but I can do nothing else. The only way to get out is to force quit. This problem keeps me from using the itunes store or updating my ipod. Any ideas on what the problem is or how to fix? Are there any known conflicts with other programs or utilities present but not necessarily running? Is there a way to go back a version, possibly to 7.1, which I had no problem with? Any ideas? I want my itunes back badly.

Get a copy of Disk Warrior and run it.
