I lost the instructions how to change the clock to include both day and date next to it. Can someone post it again. Thank you.

No, regular pane doesn't do it. There was a posting on how to do it. I did it on my iMac but can't do it on a Macbook. I will have to find the instructions. They were really neat. It includes the day of the week and the date on the left of the clock.

I instead recommend MagiCal, which is also free. Using the System Preferences approach works, but doesn't offer as many options -- and, more important, can affect date display in other parts of the OS.

I second MagiCal. There was a thread recently on it, and it is great!
Now I'm just waiting for iCal to include a "year" view, then my life will be one smooth, organized wonder. :-) :-) :-) :-)

Magical did not make it for me and I had to restart to get rid of it. I finally set the time and date on both a old portable and a Macbook. On my iMac G5 and the G4 portable it was easy to set the date as in 21/4/07 and the separator on and off by the seconds. Not so on the Macbook. I could set it up only as Saturday January 2007 and no separator between the hour and minutes.

Aloha AlbertR,
I made a PDF of how I did it. You can get it at: http://home.hawaii.r...es2/MacOSX/time[/u]anddatein_menubar.pdf Best of all, it's completely free and easy to accomplish !!!

Thank you. I did it on iMac G5 a Powerbook G4. The Macbook is a horrible problem. I got no separators at all. I ended up making a Icon with the date and time I can place anywhere on the screen. It is beautiful but in the way. I am going to try your way. Thank you and I will let you know.

I looked at your PDF with great hope. Unfortunately it is exactly how I did it on 3 Mac's. It worked perfectly on a G4 a G5 but on the Macbook no separators appear between the different items. I too choose 24 hour scheme and I even choose the separator blinking by the seconds. It all works except on the Macbook. All have OS 10.4.9.
Now the Macbook has a file with the time on the screen, not where I really want it. Works perfectly. I give up!

Albert, what kind of problem did you have with MagiCal? I've used it on a bunch of Macs with no problems at all...

I am trying to remember. It uses iCal that I do not use at all. I use Remember for years, it fits my need perfectly. Magical is probably good for anybody beside me. I am puzzled by the Macbook's being incapable of showing the separators in the date and time except if you use a file on screen that works perfectly.

A solution: Visit a watch shop buy a watch that has Day, Date, Hours, Minutes, Seconds. Apply to wrist.

How old are you? You will never make it as a comedian.
