Now, not even major news like the stock option scandal can have much of an effect on the new Wall Street darling.

Probably time to sell now then /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well, I just did my bit to keep the earnings and stock price up. Finally bought the Mac Pro I've been druling over - though I saved $549 by getting an Apple refurbished model, a 3GHz quad with 2 GB of RAM. Of course I'll be in hock for the next year or two while I pay down my credit card. The advantage of waiting is that most of the applications and utilities I use have been upgraded to Universal Binaries - even Photoshop. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Apple on Wednesday reported a $770 million profit for the fiscal 2007 second quarter. The company shipped 1,517,000 Macs and 10,549,000 iPods during the quarter, representing 36 percent growth in Macs and 24 percent growth in iPods over the year-ago quarter. [more]

Nice charts. Thanks!

Looks like Vista had no affect on Apple.

What do you mean? It had a big affect! Apple increased it's market share by quite a bit!

It's the halo effect.

The interesting think is that the Mac grown was bigger than the iPod one.

The Halo effect no longer refers to the iPod. Todays Halo effect is Vista.

I didn't buy mine until it was around $67 per share. I went into it as a disposable investment, so I'm just enjoying the ride. I just wish I had followed my instincts and bought it when it was in the teens.

Let's not forget that the last time Apple was as low as $13-$14 per share (early 2003?) they REALLY were going to die the next day. For real! Oh, and the time before that too in 1998-1999. Especially then.

Not to troll or anything but I just looked up MS latest profit report
For the three months ended June 30, Microsoft's profit was $4.3 billion.

Also, apple insider reported "Apple('s)... third-quarter profits rose more than 30 percent to $1.07 billion, or $1.19 per diluted share, June 28, 2008."
