I have a relative in New Zealand who has a Mini Mac. I bought him a MP3 player (Matsui) and we seem to be having trouble transfering CD music files to it. We are both new to Mac computing and I have, sorry to say, a Windows Machine and I just drag and drop and all works fine. I try to do this on his Mac and ITunes seems to get involved. Do I need a converter to convert to MP3 first, and if so, does any one know of a free download. Can I drag and drop and are we just being a bit on the thick side. I hope someone can help as it's just sat on the side at the moment going to waste.
Thanks in advance.

iTunes isn't going to help you directly with anything but an iPod.
However, you can set iTunes to import CD tracks in MP3 format.
Go to preferences/advanced/importing and select MP3 from the
popup.
If your relative has already imported a bunch of tracks in another
format, iTunes will convert them to MP3. Hi-lite the tracks in the
main iTunes window. Under the advanced menu select "convert to
mp3" (You have to set the import prefs to mp3 first). This leaves
two versions of each track. Go to view options and check "kind."
Sort by kind in the main window. Delete the tracks that aren't
in mp3 format.
Back to the Matsui. You'll have to manually drag the tracks you
want into it after it mounts on the desktop. Go to your Music
folder, iTunes folder, iTunes Music folder. Voila! There are your
MP3s.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds good to me, will pass it on and see how we go.
