Yeah, my macbook was perfect for me until I downloaded the free 10 day trial to World of Warcraft. I am now addicted to this game. Mind you it IS playable but you have to lower the graphics. Now I keep eyeing the 15" macbook pro but I just can't deal with the bigger size. Maybe I'll just get an imac for the house but I have a hard time justifying owning two computers.
Now if the new macbook pros offers a 13" model I will buy that without even having time to blink.
If you don't play games, the macbook is just fine. It's a wonderful machine.

Derik, I'm with you in that I agree that the premium for the black model is just not worth it. (In fact I personally prefer the white; the black finish is a fingerprint fiend.)
Saying that I would not challenge Apple's prerogative to choose its own pricing strategy, the success of which is measured in sales and not in the court of public opinion.

I disagree. I own a "blackbook" and it is very easy to keep clean with damp babywipes finished off with a papertowel rub. In my opinion, both colors look sharp but white degrades permanently in looks with those stains.

Yeah, and it's an absurd waste of time to play computer games.

Another issue to consider is Apple's Core Image and Core Video. Apple's software such as Aperture, Final Cut, and even iMovie keep pushing the GPU more and more. And Apple does advertise Aperture as being able to run on a Mac Mini and MacBook. So for Apple to keep pushing GPU acceleration while at the same time selling computers with cheap integrated graphics is a disservice to customers.

Depending on the GPU could be Apple's mistake (and Microsoft's in Vista). What I mean is that I've heard that the trend to GPU assistance has slowed since the CPU Core Explosion where suddenly now everybody's got 2, 4, or 8 cores in the CPU. Instead of coding for various ever-changing GPUs, it's a better use of coding resources to lean on the additional cores that are a slower-moving target, and if you spent all your time optimizing for specific GPUs instead of the more widely consistent multi-core CPUs, your app could be behind the curve, or at least shackled to the high-end models that have the "good" GPUs (cough Aperture cough). I'm no expert on this, it could all be BS from forum posters somewhere, but it was an interesting perspective.

Could you PLEASE stop writing "Apple on Tuesday announced blablaba...?" /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
It's either "On Tuesday, Apple announced blabla" or "Apple announced blabla on Tuesday."

Actually, the latter is generally considered to be poor/confusing grammar. Consider the following sentence:
Apple announced they would be releasing an update to Mac OS X 10.4 on Tuesday.
Does that mean the annoucement was made on Tuesday? Or that the update will be released on Tuesday?
"Apple on Tuesday announced" is an accepted phrasing for most news style guides as there's little confusion about which event is occuring at the specific time.

With writing it's always a matter of taste, but to me "Apple on Tuesday announced" only works with a German accent. One in English the verb after the subject does not put.
Your example "Apple announced they would be releasing an update to Mac OS X 10.4 on Tuesday" means the update will be released on Tuesday. It's a good sentence.
"Apple announced an update to Mac OS X 10.4 that will be released on Tuesday" isn't confusing, nor is "On Tuesday Apple announced an update to Mac OS X 10.4." Nor for that matter is:
"BFE, June 8, 2007: Apple announced an update blablabla..."
And yes, I'm in sore need of a life. I know. This is just one of those things I find grating.
You guys do a good job. I read your site every day. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
