Blech... ads! From the moment I wake up in the morning, to the moment my head hits the pillow at night, I am blasted left and right with advertisements.
"Users would be able to set a limit on the number of sponsored ads on their customized map and also turn the feature off, Eland said."
At least it can be turned off. Yeah!

So now we have avoid passing over not only push pins, but also other suspicious-looking icons. Goody.
Note that the "users" who control the icon count or turn the feature off are the web site developers who (will) put this feature to work, not the poor guy on the receiving end.
Note to advertisers: unwanted web ads are treated here just like unwanted marketing phone calls--the product advertised and every other product identifiably from the same corporate family go to the bottom of my decision tree and stay there for a set period. (At one point, MCI achieved "do not buy" status for 5 years into the then future--that worked: they became part of Worldcom and went away.)
