I have it running on Mac OSX, and Windows XP with no problem. OK, there was a slight problem. Apparently, on OSX, Safari has to already be installed in its default locations or the Beta will not install. Once, I figured that out, all was good.
I like this new version of Safari because it seems little quicker. However, I cannot see that this is one year's worth of progress. Until I started reading the forums, I couldn't even tell what any additional features were.
Surely, porting to Windows isn't a feature.

Safari 3, the browser that will be bundled with OS X 10.5, will also work on Windows. Apple has released a cross-platform of its latest Web browser, and Rob Griffiths takes it out for a test spin on Windows and OS X. [more]

So Windows developers can make "apps" for the iPhone, of course.

Plus it can Reopen windows from previous sessions, making Forget me not redundant (-ish), which is good as it's disabled when you install v3

Upgraded on both the iMac and MacBook -- no problems thus far. Seems to be zippier on most of my favorite sites -- wish I could import my Firefox bookmarks...

How come everyone missed the built-in spell check in text boxes with Tiger?

Has anyone tried accessing their bank accounts or paying their bills online using the Safari 3 beta? Those types of web sites are notorious for browser compatibility issues.

I had one issue: Safari 3 disables Pithhelmet (reasonably enough), but this for some reason made Netnewswire lite RSS aggregator crash. Removing Pithhelmet (NOT easy - instructions here http://preview.tinyurl.com/2avc8j) solves the problem.
I know Safari does RSS but I like to keep them separate.
The new find feature is brilliant.

no problems, no crashes, no speed issues. OSX.
- new find feature - VERY VERY VERY VERY NICE. As someone who uses and reads a lot of text often, this feature alone is worth the upgrade.
- moveable tabs - lovely
- resizable text boxes - useful

What do you mean? Safari as had inline spell check for a very long time now (since 1.0?).

Just to be clear, Pithhelmet is disabling itself per the rules it sets itself through SIMBL.

It shouldn't. Pithhelmet disables itself for the full NetNewsWire without incident. You might contact Brent Simmons (the developer).

- resizable text boxes - useful
i like the resizable boxes too but there is one MAJOR problem for those of use who type in languages that use characters that are not roman based; specifically languages like japanese that require more complicated characters in yahoo mail programs (and yahoo japan mail is EXTREMELY popular in japan).

what happens when attempting to type japanese at a normal speed is a huge pause (several seconds) and then lots of extra characters that i did not type. if i pause purposefully between each character, it is ok, but NO ONE would purposely type that slow. example:
oops, cant give an example because this bbs is not unicode...
this doesnt happen in google mail..
they have to fix that before the final release or it wont do much for the market share in japan... macs are known for being the most multi lingual platform around, so this is really strange.
