I have a Macbook, a Motorola E815 cellphone with Verizon service, and a Blackberry 7250 with Verizon voice and data service. A friend added a $15/mo fee to his Verizon Blackberry data plan which enables him to tether his Blackberry to his Windows laptop, enabling him to use the Blackberry Verizon unlimited data plan to access the Internet on his computer using VZ Access Manager software.
I talked with someone at Verizon about doing this with my Macbook a few months ago. I added the additional feature, downloaded VZ Acess Manager for Mac from Verizon's site and enjoyed 5 weeks of Internet access when traveling and away from my ISP by tethering my Blackberry via the USB port. This quit working a month ago, and Verizon now tells me it was an accident it ever worked, as they do not have the proper driver for the Macbook
I am desperate to find a way to make this work, as I love to work while on road trips with my husband. Do you have any suggestions?

have done this using my (former) E815, but it has been a while, so can't quite remember how. Look at www.howardforums.com for a lot of help.

I'm not sure why if it did work it no longer will since the driver you need is from the computer to the phone, not the VZ network. Usually once you are connected you are connected and it doesn't matter anymore. You connect to the phone which works as the modem and once you get onto the Internet you're good to go.
Most cell providers are not good at supporting Macs when using phone as a modem. Usually you have to look for third-party installers and hacks to get them to work.
You may want to look into a USB modem that most of the cell providers have now. Make sure you get an EVDO Rev. A modem. When in a Rev. A area (big cities and expanding out) you get really fast access (at least on Sprint where I use one) that rivals DSL speeds.
With the set up you have, one work-around, which is not perfect, but probable is to use Parallels to run Windows and the VZ software on it and surf that way.
