The iPhone won't ship until Friday, but we've studied the videos, talked to the insiders, and committed Steve Jobs' keynotes to memory to tell you all that we know about the new mobile phone on its way from Apple. more

Wow you guys are really whipping yourselves into a frenzy over this one hey? Pages and pages on a product that already has pages and pages devoted to it, endless circles of the same information over and over...

It's called the modern Internet, ca 2007. One might hope it gets better over time.
Under "Internet and Networking" how can I learn my iPhone's wi-fi MAC address, so I can join a MAC-filtered network without resorting to failing and reading the router logs? (Or failing, finding that the router logs are disabled, enabling them, and failing again.)
(It's not THAT big a deal, since I only would--given that I buy the phone--have to learn the MAC address once.)
My guess: it's somewhere under Settings, or on a page in iTunes, or both. But that's just a guess based on where I would put it were I doing the design. (Hint: I'm not a designer.)

In the part on the first page about the iphone's buttons there is a typo; it reads "like the on used on iPods", and it should say: like the one used on iPods. I am getting very excited for this phone, which is very strange since there is little chance I will be able to get one few at least a year.

The MAC address will likely be on a sticker on the outside of the box your iPhone comes in. See the photos:

With Visual Voicemail, is voicemail downloaded to the phone so that I can listen to my 50 new messages while sitting on an airplane? Or is it an interface to a cell call to the voicemail system despite the cool interface?
Anybody know?

But from what I hear, it seems to be true that it can't be used as a modem for your laptop and that is a shame. One may hope that it will be added when it is launched in Europe, but if this will remain so, I am afraid iPhone is not an option for me as I cannot afford two mobile phones and I need one to use as a modem.
Some people would argue that I could use the phone itself and yes, in most of the cases it would work, but since I guess I cannot attach a scanner to it to scan in my illustrations to send them by e-mail, I am afraid that is not an option either.
Well, I haven't seen so many others connecting to the Internet from hotspots or using the mobile, with a scanner attached to the laptop, so I am probably one in a tiny little minority:) But it is a pity to get a mobile from Apple itself and then you can't use it as a modem!?

But hey, maybe there is a solution! Through Bluetooth or USB one could perhaps transfer the file to the phone from the laptop? I hope so, because then there's no need to use it as a modem...
PS: But then again, it mightn't be an option at all. Thanks to the stupid idea of having one carrier for the whole of Europe, we might never see it in Norway. Macworld UK mention Vodafone as the probable winner and they have no business in Norway.
Why can't Apple realise that Europe is not the US? The situation is different here. Arrrrrggggh!!!

Jimmyee....In your post there is a typo, you say you won't get one 'few at least a year' and it should say you 'won't get a few this year, but next year you will get a few, possibly several and maybe even a few more by the end of 2010'.

"But you cant send them via a multimedia (MMS) message, since thats a format that the iPhone doesnt currently support."
Really this is the only aspect that really disappoints me. My family (on several different networks) really enjoys using MMS to send photos of our kids, etc. to each other routinely. Hopefully this function will be added to the iPhone service soon.

There are a few things I can't understand; why can't Apple design an iPod and a phone with an easy an elegant way to change the battery? If, by any chance, they will find a solution to launch it here in Norway, although we have neither Vodafone nor any other of the carriers operating in many - but not all! - other European countries, am I supposed to send it to the nearest Apple retailer (we have no Apple Stores) who may have to send it to gods only know where (Ireland?) to have the battery replaced? That would take a few days, at least. And am I then supposed to be without a mobile phone?
And why on Earth insist on one single carrier for the whole of Europe? And why can't one buy the phone free? Oh yes, because of the visual voicemail and maybe for the map function? But believe me, those wouldn't matter so much.
It is this idea they have about knowing what is best for us which rears its ugly head again, I guess. It wouldn't take so much to change that attitude a little towards giving people a choice - and still maintain the elegance and simplicity.
Well, the world is intricate and complicated and sometimes we simply have to adapt to it.
But I guess the iPhone won't come to Norway and if it does, these restrictions to it, might piss off too many to make it a success here.

When using Safari via my iMac I can view a website and enter my personal account information and password to do things like monitor my banking activity, place orders for merchandise, track shipping information on the FedEx or UPS sites, etc. So far I have seen no examples of this sort of activity on any of the iPhone demo videos.
Will I be able to use Safari on the iPhone to input and access this type of personal information?

The iPhone doesn't support A2DP such as the iSkin Cerulean, yet when I checked out the iSkin site, there was an iPhone sitting there as big as day. And it didn't have the dongle attached to it. So then I guess the iPhone only works with the Cerulean in Mono mode or something. Seems like false advertising on iSkin's part. Maybe a patch is going to be made available at some point in the future or the retail version will have more features than the demo units (hopefully for purchasers who feel they are being immensely cheated by the lack of standard features).

I don't recall having read anything about Bluetooth enabled hands-free systems wrt the iPhone. Not in the various reviews or the online info from Apple, though it does say "Bluetooth 2.0+EDR." I've read that iPhone works with Bluetooth headsets (mono ones) but not sure that necessarily includes the hands-free units found in cars or the many aftermarket auto nav systems.
