iPod skipping songs

I have a black 2G Nano and there are some songs that show up properly in the iPod, but when I try to play them, it skips. The same songs, however, will play just fine in iTunes.
Is it because I ripped those songs and a bunch of others with a different program (which I did)?

If the songs are playing correctly in iTunes then they would generally be fine on any iPod. There are some music file formats, mostly uncompressed or lossless compression formats, that iTunes will support that iPods do not for the obvious reasons. What is the format of the offending songs? Beyond that, you could just have corrupted copies of the music on your iPod.

Same thing happens to me except it's with iTunes Music Store songs and they used to work fine...
