hey guys, hope u can help me. Im a first year film editing student wanting to buy a decent camera that is compatable with mac and final cut pro 5.1. I was on their website and they seem to only have discontinued models. i did call them up but they told me to call up the actual camera company, which i did and found it was no help. so if any one knos a gud mini dv camera under the price range of $1000 AUS dollars, please let me know.

My friend has an HV20 and other than it being "too small" he seems to like it.
Having both DV and HD cameras BIG and small. I would rather have a bigger camera that you can manually manipulate very easily (you are a student right). Also with HD you need a lot more powerful machine to edit with. Export times are increased substantially. There are LOTS of disadvantages to shooting HD.
I personally would choose something like a used Sony DCR-VX2100 DV camera over that Canon. It will shoot better indoors too with the low lux rating.
