Not to be anal, but Guitar Hero's (and Rock Band's for that matter) system of reading accuracy is nothing more than just being able to hit the note within a reasonable time, even if you're noticeably late or early. A casual player won't care but some will agree that having the music continuously play without reflecting the true timing in the audio is quite sloppy.
Now, that statement would be quite true if you applied it to Konami's offerings but that's not the deal here.
I think this is quite the significant offering. I don't believe there's never been a mainstream rhythm game of any sort on the Mac before.

I agree it's not like playing a real guitar...but if you want that, why don't you get a real guitar? On the higher difficulty levels, guitar hero could be quite unforgiving. Have you played it all the way through on Expert? Guitar Hero, ultimately, is not a guitar. It's a rhythm game with a guitar theme. It's going to be difficult in different ways than a real guitar.
As for this PC/Mac version, I wonder if that means we might see the holy grail of things for a rhythm game like this: free user mods for new songs. That would make me get this version in a heartbeat.

I don't follow gaming but in my simple little opinion, ANYTHING that gets created for the Mac (when it hadn't, correct me if I'm wrong) is good for Apple and the continued expansion of it's products.
I see this as good even if I don't care about gaming because it's making the Mac/Apple more universally accepted.

In the Groove -- a competitor to Dance Dance Revolution -- was offered for the Mac last year, in fact.

True. I almost forgot since they got "taken over" by Konami. Still, it's quite niche.

I'm going to be nice here but I'd advise you that saying that to other people won't end nicely for you. :P It's just a game. I'll leave it at that.
I've seen Expert and it looks more work than fun. I saw a video of that overrated Dragonforce song on Youtube and that definitely looked dull and unenjoyable.

Well, that's one song to avoid.
I'm probably Neversoft's worst nightmare audience: the one who doesn't know anything about any of the songs.
