My iPhone was previously hacked using the AppTap Installer ... When I tried to upgrade, it failed. I was forced to restore the iPhone OS, during which, the firmware was also restored onto the iPhone. On the second attempt to upgrade, it worked fine.

I assumed that's happening as in the past.
However - can you install AppTapp again or did Apple break it?

This ability to upgrade must or should have the competitors running scared, perhaps more than anything else about the iPhone.

Perhaps it would if they actually used this ability to deliver something useful.

Where is the update for a landscape keyboard for everything other than Safari? Come on Apple, yer leavin' me hangin' here. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Where's the native IM application that is sorely needed? /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Where is the global Inbox for mail so I don't have to do the tapity-tap-tap a hundred times to check the inboxes of my 14 email accounts? /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Give me these by Christmas and all is forgiven. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Seems they covered some of the basic complaints about usability with this upgrade.
125MB is quite a heavy update, for what it brings.

nope, everything i've read on the apple forums is that if you have hacked your phone for 3rd party apps then this update will restore your phone.
also any none itunes store ringtones will disappear.... i've added ringtones via makeiphoneringtone and the update took them off and i didn't even sync the phone with itunes.

Awesome. I certainly hope I can turn off edge/gprs even when I'm not roaming internationally.. I'd rather fumble for wi-fi than get my hopes up with GPRS/Edge, half the time.

My iFuntastic Ringtones are all gone after the update. Everything else looks good. No issues other than missing ringtones.
Love the new Landscape for Attachments... Excel files now are legible.
Love the new Battery Life Indicator for Bluetooth.... it is awesome.
