I will soon need a laptop which I can use to demonstrate Windows applications at tradeshows (well not really tradeshows, but at a booth at some niche events).
Of course, I'd love to get a MacBook Pro, but I think it might be a bit of overkill for what I do. Right now I make fairly extensive use of the Adobe Design/Print apps, FontLab Studio (on demo for now, but it's good program). I don't need super-sonic speed; right now I'm fine using my iBook G4, with 768 RAM.
I'm only concerned about whether there are any issues I should be aware of before plunking down for a MacBook 13"? I heard some things about the screen cracking - is that a real issue, has it been taken care of?
Anything else i should know?
I'm still in mulling-mode. I'd kind of like to get the MacBook PRO, soup it up an use a second monitor and so on. But $-wise, I'm probably going to have to get a new laptop before I can justify spending on the Pro.

MacBook - needing a Boot Campable interim computer

I ran Boot Camp on a MacBook for a few months, and it worked fine -- as long as you don't want to demo 3D accelerated games or anything else that would reveal the limits of the GMA950 graphics chip in the machine. But for basic Windows apps, the speed was more than fine.
As for the screen cracking, I never saw anything more than a few internet posts about the problem, so I can't comment as to how "real" the issue may have been. Mine certainly had no such issues, and of the people I know with MacBooks (about a dozen), none have had the problem.
